Travel Diaries: El Nido Island Hopping Tour A [Day 2]

Day 2 in El Nido and we’re going island hopping round 2!

We already went for tour C during our Day 1 in El Nido and now it’s time for another round having tour A this time. This place never seem to run out of islands to explore! But before we started the tour, we woke up early for our Taraw Cliff climb (where I shared my whole experience on a separate blog post here). It was approaching noon time when we finished our climb so we quickly had brunch and had a private Tour A this time from Tay Miloy’s Inn where we stayed. Also because it was too late to join the group tours since most of the group tour will start at 8/9am.

If you come in groups, it’s always better if you book a private tour, this way you and your friends or family will have all the time to enjoy every destination at your own pace.

The destination for Tour A are Small Lagoon, Big Lagoon, Secret Lagoon, Shimizu Island and 7 Commando Beach.

First stop: Big Lagoon. Since we started around noon already, the boatman suggested that we’ll just pass through the Big Lagoon and not actually go down the boat. It was more of a sight-seeing since we’re running out of time which was all good. You’ll see why later.

But if you do have enough time during your visit, you can swim, rent kayaks and take lots and lots of photos here! It’s like a non-struggle-getting-here version of the hidden beach on Tour C. Lol.

This part of the Big Lagoon was too shallow that we needed to stay in front of the boat to help it pass through. This is also where you can actually go down and enjoy the shallow beach.

Now entering the deep part of the Big Lagoon. I heard there are deep-sea creatures that are found here. Little sharks maybe? haha

Now on to the next stop.

Photo above is some private resort. I forgot the name but it will cost you a lot of $$$ per night! Someday maybe? (If I researched it correctly, Mr Google said this was Miniloc Island Resort)

Now time for (late) lunch! For Tour A, the boatmen usually go to Shimizu island where they can set up the food at the seashore for lunch but since the beach is a bit too crowded and since we are in a private tour anyways, why not find a little private spot nearby and away from where people usually go? That is exactly what we just did and found this little paradise all by ourselves!

We got to play around the area and enjoyed the water so much while waiting for the food to be prepared by the boatman (which is btw part of the tour if you haven’t already know. Read here 😀 ) This is also the time we took Yuki the unicorn for some play time.

Next stop: Small Lagoon – my favorite part of the tour! This is where we finally rented kayaks to go around the lagoon. Also the best choice to go kayaking if you’re on a budget. Boats cannot enter at this point and have to park ‘outside’ the lagoon. Only kayaks can enter inside because of the small opening which also explains why the water inside is very calm. It’s very relaxing to swim here I loved it!

Mikay are you okay!? hahahha

Glad I took lots of photos. It’s the only thing you can bring home with you but also don’t forget to live the moment. ❤

Last Stop: 7 Commando Beach. We didn’t really go down here since it was getting pretty late and each tour has a curfew as what is written in their permits. We kind of expected it anyway. We knew the next destination was more of just a beach so we took most of our remaining time exploring the Small Lagoon more. We only passed by and took this group shot with the 7 Commando Beach behind us.

I asked the boatman why it was called 7 Commando Beach and from what I remember, he told me that because there were 7 soldiers that used to live here a long time ago. Will definitely make sure to have enough time to enjoy the beach here during my next visit.

Time’s ticking and it’s time to go back to the main town.

your photos make me feel like i’m there again.

i have such wonderful memories of el nido. it’s one of the places in the philippines that i always recommend to anyone who asks me where to go.

and that clear blue water! *swoon* and warm too! hahaha. seriously, i never appreciated our beaches there until i moved to australia. i mean, sure, the beaches here are nice and all but damn, they’re freaking cold! at least the ones here in victoria, anyway.
